[Here Luceti, have another New Feather. A young man with silver wings, wearing a strange mask and with only the thin pants of the newcomers to protect him from the world is currently just waking up in the forest not too far from the village. If you could see his face you'd see just how groggy and confused he is right now. He flinches a little as he realises there's a couple of new additions to his body upon coming to... wherever he is right now, and he reaches behind him to feel... feathers? Wings?

Thankfully it isn't long before he realises his clothes are piled up beside him, along with a book. Gin knows it's dangerous to be so exposed and doesn't hesitate to put on those clothes, strangely altered to accommodate those small wings on his back. Who did this to him? Where was he? He was certain by now this wasn't the forest of the Mountain God, unless he was trying to play some kind of trick on him.

Now for that book... Gin picks it up, taking a seat on the forest floor where he appeared and taking a moment to flick through the pages. The book was full of messages and pictures, presumably the ones who were trying to communicate. Some of the images moved as well and there were voices... the book was speaking to him.]

[After taking some time to try to get to know this odd journal and how it might work, Gin ends up trying to speak to the book himself.]

Hello? Can anyone hear me?

Yeah, I got it on the first go, yo. [Why does this guy keep saying his name? Does he forget it every minute or something? Sheesh.]

An' yeah, so don't go losin' them wings, aight? As for the Mallynosos, screw 'em. They ain't got honor and I ain't gunna be friends wit' 'em. They jus' wanna use us as cheapo labor, fightin' their fights and bein' their genius pigs.

You want others to stay away from you? For what purpose?

[Spock gave Gin a curious look.]

Well, yeah. But just because it's a natural question doesn't mean that absolutely everyone is going to ask it! I can't read minds, so I had to ask.

They're called the Malnosso. They're... not very pleasant people, to say the least.

Because they need guinea pigs, among other things. You'll find out soon enough this ain't exactly a two-way street they're working.

Also, this enclosure is supposedly for our protection. There's another shitty faction called the Third Party -- and they don't give a shit if we go home or not. They just want us dead.

[That mask is a little bit unnerving, but Emil has seen worse here, so he isn't going to make any comments on it. For all he knows, it's to cover up some horrible scar or something.]

Kind of... I've been here for more than four years now, so I guess that's about as close to a native as you'll find around here. Did you find a journal... um, a book near you when you woke up?

[He might as well tell him. He doesn't look human anyway but it's best for others to know.]

Because if a human touches me... I'll disappear forever.

[Far from it in fact~ However he's keeping it on for now. He won't make a big deal about it if this stranger doesn't either. At his question he picks up the book he found.]

This? It looked like it was full of messages, though I don't know who the people are. More 'natives'?

I'm not sure this is the world I was living in moments ago... maybe the people here can read minds. I wouldn't know.

[All right, he'll be a bit more serious now!]

Anyway, if you could offer any advice I'd appreciate it. Do you have a name?

If they're kidnapping people then I can see that...

What else do you know about them? Are they dangerous?

[The more he hears about this, the less Gin is liking the idea of living in this Luceti. Not that he has a choice.]

So one side wants to use us for experiments and the other want us to die. Is there anything nice about this place?

[There's a soft sigh. Obviously this is just part of the guy's speech pattern.]

[He's not sure he's liking the sound of these 'Mallynosos' either.]

These people want us to fight? I'm not sure why they chose me then. I'm no fighter. [He wouldn't last five seconds on a field full of people...]

I'm not sure... To make us feel more at home, maybe...? I don't know.

[Spock looks at Gin sharply.]

Is this a...condition that you have had for a significant amount of time?

[Sanji offers a grin in his voice]

Everything's free. But gotta admit, it's pretty poor compensation.

[Then he grows serious again]

Oi. Has anyone told you about the drafts?

Quite. They occasionally kidnap us from the village, too, and perform experiments... do be careful.

Of course I have a name! It's Jane. [With that said, as long as he appreciated it then maybe she could tell him a few things.]

Anyway, some advice... For one thing, people appear and disappear all the time around here, so you might not want to get too attached to anyone. [That...said a lot more about her that she realized.] Oh, and money isn't an issue here, so you don't need to worry about paying for clothes or food.

[He beams]

Man, I dunno neither. Like me? I can fight an' it ain't nothing, but some kids here... It ain't right. S'why I hate 'em. They ain't got the decency to come down here an' face us, but they send us off to do whatever they want!

So, watch out for 'em, yo. They're shady like a tree.

[Emil nods.]

Yeah, that's it. Everyone who is brought here gets one-- you can use it to talk to any of the other people here. It's kind of like a message system.

[Gin wasn't intending to talk about this right now, especially not with a total stranger. But well... he had asked. And if he was going to survive here he supposed someone ought to know about him.]

Since I was baby. [He answers simply.] It's always been with me. [Haunted him. However you wanted to put it.]

Magic then... or something like it. [Hmm, that does make him wonder.] Is there anything else magical in Luceti or is this it?

[People disappeared from here too? Of course Gin had to wonder where they went... did that mean they went back home or to yet another strange world?

As for getting attached...]

Gin. [He says first, offering a name of his own before continuing in a slightly more somber tone.] And... I don't have to worry too much about getting attached to people. It rarely happens. [He would say never but... he knew there was an exception now, waiting for him back home.] We can just help ourselves? At least that's a relief.

I'm not sure I like the idea of being herded around... I'll be careful, don't worry.

Do you know what these experiments involve? Or what they're for?

[He's right, if that's all then it really wasn't much at all.]

It's something, I guess. But... no I haven't heard anything about drafts.

[Something about the tone in his voice definitely catches Gin's attention however.]
